“In the end we retain from our studies only that which we practically apply.”

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

How Can I Help?

Whether you want to discuss an extreme clutter situation, carry out a formal assessment of risks and issues, or are seeking advice on development and implementation of policy and practice guidelines, please don’t hesitate to get in touch; I’d like to help in any way I can.

  • I have been providing practical help and therapeutic support to people with lived experience of chronic disorganisation and hoarding disorder for more than 12 years.

In 2013, I incorporated Life-Pod CIC - the only support service provider in Scotland to specialise in this field.

In 2023, I created Hoarding Academy to provide a certified learning pathway for professional practice.

  • Since my first seminar in 2014, I have enjoyed delivering training to thousands of related professionals across UK and internationally.

Below is an example of the positive feedback I receive regularly from participants and course organisers.

“Your passion for the subject really came through and people were engaged in the topic and what you were saying; sometimes when we have training people start to switch off after an hour or so but that wasn’t the case this time - a big thank you!” ~Environmental Health Manager, Government of Jersey (2023)

  • In October 2024, my book ‘A Pragmatic Approach to Chronic Disorganisation and Hoarding - using the DESIRE method’ will be published internationally by JKP Publishing.

...the more I learnt, the more I wanted to share because I was seeing first-hand the impact that ill-informed interventions were having on people’s lives. Related professionals in emergency services, housing, health and social care were increasingly asking me for advice and guidance, which inspired me to develop training events…

In 2018, I organised and hosted the first International Hoarding, Health & Housing Conference where I welcomed as keynote speaker, world-leading expert Dr Randy O. Frost, Harold and Elsa Siipola Israel Professor of Psychology, Smith College.

In 1996, Randy Frost and Tamara Hartl published the first theoretical account of hoarding. Dr Frost has gone on to publish over 160 scientific articles and book chapters on hoarding and related topics.
